This high capacity scale makes weighing ultra heavy loads a breeze. Earth movers, mining trucks and off road vehicles can now monitor their loads at the site. Each platform of the MS450-60 (300 ton capacity) weighs only 3,400 pounds and can be picked up with a small crane. A truck can transport it from one weighing site to another. The scale is inherently precise. With firmly packed support and the vehicle leveled, error is typically less than ±0.5%. A field installation may be set up in less than an hour, but may degrade system’s accuracy to 1%. The GP1200 digital indicator operates from 12, 120 or 220 volts and can be plugged into an automotive power source. Jumbo size L.C.D. display indicates both wheel weight and axle weight.

Rated load is designed so that no reasonable combination of operating conditions will cause this scale to be damaged when the load is below the rated load.
Maximum safe load is designed for the rated load. The scale pads may withstand somewhat higher loads, but abnormal conditions such as tires skewed so they hang off the side of the scale, hard bumps as the truck enters the scale, seriously off center load in the truck (so that tires on one side of the truck are loaded heavily) etc. could cause damage to the scale if total load exceeds the rated load.
The first indication of damage would be bending of the weighbridge or fracture of the welds. Slight bending will not affect performance of the scale. Damage due to overload of the load cells would cause a shift in the zero weight reading (failure to return to zero pounds ±1,000 pounds within a few seconds). If the load cells are slightly overloaded, the zero can be adjusted by moving a shunt on the summing board. Slightly overloaded load cells will weigh accurately but they should be replaced as soon as possible since the load cells will yield more easily after they have once been bent.
Effect of tires overhanging the scale pads: There is no effect due to tires overhanging the edges of the scale pads, subject to cautions above. If the load is off center so the tires extend more than 10 to 12 inches off one side, there may be local overloading which could damage the scale. No error in reading will occur unless the scale is permanently damaged.
MS75 and MS100 scale pads are designed for length of 96 inches (8 feet). If the scale is to be housed in an enclosed truck, this width may cause the truck to exceed the legal width limit. The scale pads can be reduced 4 to 6 inches without extra charge. The narrower pads require more careful placement of the tires to be sure they are fully on the pads.
